Frequently asked questions
I prefer to buy natural products, but does Swheat Scoop actually work?
With Swheat Scoop there’s no tradeoff between eco-friendliness and performance! It eliminates odors and clumps better than any clumping litter – even the leading clay-based brands that require chemicals and fragrances to work.
Where does the wheat in Swheat Scoop come from?
Swheat Scoop litter is primarily made from U.S.-sourced secondary wheat. This is a grade of wheat that simply doesn’t meet bakery requirements, so it was never intended for human or pet food use.
Are Swheat Scoop clumps truly flushable?
Yes! In fact, Swheat Scoop is the only litter on the market Certified Flushable with sewer or septic systems. To safely flush, break clumps into smaller pieces and let them soak for 20 minutes before flushing. Never overload the toilet! For landfill-friendly trash disposal, please use a paper bag.
Won’t a wheat-based litter attract bugs when it gets damp, or mush up?
Actually, the wheat goes through a special heat-treating process, so that problems like those don’t come up. This process also increases its shelf life.
If Swheat Scoop is 100% biodegradable, can I use it in my garden?
Yes! After the clumps and waste have been thoroughly scooped away, used Swheat Scoop litter can be disposed of in a compost bin or used as mulch in ornamental (non-vegetable) gardens. However, as you would with any litter, always wash hands thoroughly after scooping or litter box cleaning. Because cat feces can transmit parasites that cause toxoplasmosis, pregnant women and people with suppressed immune systems should avoid any litter box maintenance.
Our cat’s very fussy about the type of litter we use. We’re concerned she won’t get used to it.
Because Swheat Scoop looks and feels like regular scoopable litter, cats tend to accept it without much fuss. To make the transition easier, fill the litter box with three inches of Swheat Scoop and pour a thin layer of the brand you’re currently using on top.
What makes Swheat Scoop different from other natural litters?
There are other good alternative litters. But if you want one that works better than the leading clay clumping brands, Swheat Scoop is in a class by itself.
